A dig supervisor told me my trowel marks were destroying the stratigraphy
At a site near Santa Fe last month, the lead archaeologist pulled me aside and said I was scraping too deep, basically erasing 200 year old layers. I switched from dragging the edge to using the flat face with short, controlled pushes and now I can actually see the color changes between levels. Has anyone else had to unlearn their digging habits from a supervisor?
