Brought my 4 year old to a dig site in Ohio and she found a 300 year old pipe stem in 10 minutes
I spent 3 hours sifting dirt and found nothing while my kid just walked over to a random pile and pulled out a colonial pipe stem, so now I'm questioning if experience even matters or if archaeologists should just hire toddlers.

Same thing happened at a spot near Chillicothe. My kid was 5, maybe 15 minutes in, and she picks up a piece of flint that turned out to be a worked scraper. I had been there since 8am. Kids just look at the ground different, no filter about what counts as worth picking up. I started having her walk the plowed rows ahead of me and it actually worked, she spotted stuff I walked right past.
