Vent: a sound guy at the Mesa Amphitheatre said my mix was muddy, and he was right
Did a small concert shoot in Mesa three weeks ago and the audio guy said my boom placement was picking up too much room, everything sounded like a cave. I moved the mic 8 inches closer and dropped the low end by 3 dB on the next edit, and the difference was night and day. Now I always check my lows on cheap earbuds before I call a mix done. What's your go-to check for muddy audio?
