Stop cropping the moon out of your star trail shots, it looks fake
Went to a dark sky spot near Flagstaff two weekends back with my Star Adventurer and shot about 400 frames of the sky over three hours. Got home, stacked them in Sequator, and the trails looked great. Then I pulled up the local astro group to share and half the posts have these huge overblown moon shots slapped on top of the trails. A few had the moon glowing right through a tree line that was clearly shot at noon. I know it is tempting because a bare trail photo can look plain, but anyone who knows the sky can spot a pasted moon from a mile away. The angle is off, the phase does not match the date, and the light never lands on the foreground right. Real moon plus trails means you shot a blend with two separate exposures at the same spot and the same night, not a cut and paste. I started bracketing a moon shot right after my trail run ended and the blend looks way more believable. How are you all handling foreground light when you do a moon plus trails blend?
