Hit 1,000 hours on my orbital sander this year and it changed my view on cheap pads

I always bought the cheapest sanding pads, thinking they were all the same. After tracking my time, I saw I was replacing them twice as often as the mid-grade ones. A guy at the supply house said, 'You're paying in time, not just money.' Switched to a better brand and my clear coat prep got way smoother. Anyone else find a small change that saved a bunch of time?

Switched to a better brand of masking tape for paint lines... the cheap stuff always bled and I'd spend forever touching up. That extra couple bucks a roll saves so much hassle.

Why do I always learn this after the project?

The good pads last almost three times longer for me.
