Serious question, why does everyone swear by polyester filler over metal glaze?

After 20 years in the trade working on rusted-out trucks in Buffalo, I switched back to metal glaze for deep dings and it outlasted every polyester patch I tried by a good 6 months - has anyone else had that experience with older vehicles?

Same here with my old farm trucks. Metal glaze holds up way better on those deep dings where the metal is already thin and flexing. Polyester filler always cracked out on me within a year on those spots.

Oh man, that tracks with so much stuff honestly. I feel like we're always told the new fancy stuff is better but the old reliable things just...work different for real world grime and abuse. Kinda like how I still use a manual can opener instead of those electric ones that break in a year.
