The leaky water pump on my CR-V made me finally admit my driveway wrenching days are done
Two Saturdays ago I was in my garage in Boise with my 2014 CR-V up on ramps. Coolant puddle the size of a dinner plate under it. I've done water pumps before on older cars, back when everything was easy to reach. This one took me 9 hours because of one bolt tucked behind the timing cover. My hands are still sore. I paid $140 for the pump and $60 in tools I had to borrow anyway. A shop quoted me $650 all in. I used to think paying somebody was for people who don't care about their cars. Sitting on a milk crate at 9pm with skinned knuckles, I changed my mind. Some jobs are worth handing off. Anyone else got a job they swore they'd never pay for and then did?
