I finally swapped a water pump on a 5.7 Hemi without pulling the alternator
Been dreading this job for weeks because everyone says you gotta yank the alternator to get to that one bolt. Decided to try it anyway last Saturday on my buddy's 2014 Ram 1500, about 120k miles. I used a wobble extension and a swivel socket, and it actually worked after about 10 minutes of fiddling. Took the total job from 4 hours down to maybe 2.5, which felt pretty good. Anyone else find a trick like this that goes against common advice?

That wobble extension trick saved me on a 2015 Ram.

Chipped a knuckle on my own truck trying to get to that hidden bolt (rookie mistake, right?).
