Spent $150 on that special Ford transmission fluid pump adapter

Turns out a Turkey baster from the dollar store does the exact same job for filling the 6R80, has anyone else wasted cash on a tool that a kitchen gadget could replace?

And that air pocket issue is exactly why you'll end up paying the dealer to fix it later anyway.

A turkey baster is fine for getting fluid IN there, but the REAL problem is that the 6R80 has a specific fill procedure. You can't just pour fluid in through the dipstick tube and call it good. The transmission has to be at the exact temperature and running with the fluid level checked under specific conditions. A turkey baster won't let you do that because you can't attach it to the transmission's side fill port. That $150 adapter lets you pump fluid in under pressure WHILE the engine is running so you can fill it properly without air pockets. Dealer techs use them for a reason, it's not JUST a money grab.
