Warning: that fancy sourdough starter kit I bought was a total ripoff

Wait, they charged you $60 for a starter kit and it came with instructions you could find for free? That's wild, like what were they even thinking with that price tag? Honestly, I've seen people spend way less on just flour and a jar and get better results than what these fancy kits promise. Tbh, the whole thing sounds like they took advantage of people who don't know any better, which is just shady. Ngl, I'd be so mad if I dropped that much cash on something so basic.

Spent $600 on a fancy container foundation kit and wish I just did gravel like everyone said

Did you account for the soil type when you picked the adjustable piers? Because Texas clay is basically a living thing that expands and contracts with moisture. Those fancy kits work great on stable sandy soil but they really hate clay. Your buddy's gravel pad is probably draining better and letting the clay do its shrinking thing without pushing the container around. I've seen adjustable piers actually pop up out of the ground after a heavy rain on clay. Sometimes the cheap gravel solution just works with the land instead of fighting it.

Stopped by an old repair shop in Tacoma and saw something I haven't seen in a decade

Honestly saw a thing about how some companies are making tractors that farmers can't even fix themselves anymore. Tbh it's the same story everywhere.

Chat with a retired tech at the air show changed how I see old manuals

Wait, they could actually hear what a circuit sounded like?

Remember when we'd spend a whole afternoon at the library in Boston flipping through old Vogue issues for mood board images?

Totally get that. I found a stack of old fishing magazines from the 80s last month, the pages were all yellow and brittle. Pulled out a coupon for a lure company that hasn't existed for twenty years. It's like holding a little piece of time, you know? That specific old paper smell just does something a new book never can. What's the best random thing you've found tucked in the pages so far?
