TIL I've been setting my torque wrench to the wrong scale for 3 years
I grabbed my old beam-style wrench to check lug nuts on a 2016 Civic and noticed the needle sitting way off where I thought 80 ft-lbs was, only to figure out I'd been reading the ft-lb side wrong and using the ft-lb numbers off the Newton-meter scale. A buddy at the shop in Reno pointed at the two hash marks and asked which one I used, and I just went quiet. How many of you double check your wrench against a known weight or a second one before trusting it on a customer's car?
