Vent: my shop's comeback rate hit 3 in one month and I need a second opinion on why
I keep a tally on the whiteboard of comebacks, and last month it hit 3, which is the most since I opened my bay in Lansing back in 2019. Two were the same 2016 Silverado with a P0171 lean code after I did intake gaskets, and one was a brake job where the customer came back with a squeal 2 days later. I rechecked my torque and my smoke tests on all of them and nothing jumps out at me, but three feels like a pattern I'm missing. My gut says it's the cheap reman intake gaskets I switched to when my usual supplier backordered, but I don't want to blame parts before I blame myself. Anybody got a way they spot-check their own work before a car leaves the bay?
