Serious question, did my extended warranty just ghost me after a $1,400 AC compressor quote?
My truck's AC quit blowing cold on a 95 degree day in Phoenix last Tuesday, so I brought it to a shop near Camelback. They quoted $1,400 for a new compressor and I figured no big deal, I pay for the extended warranty every month. I called the warranty line and they ran me through 20 minutes of questions before saying the compressor is not a covered part on my plan. I looked at the tiny contract print and sure enough, somewhere in the middle it lists compressors as excluded, which nobody mentioned when I bought the thing at the dealer 2 years ago. Is this normal for these plans or did I just get a junk policy?
What did the dealer actually tell you when you signed up, did they hand you the full contract to read or just shove the paperwork in front of you to sign? That part matters because if they promised you a bumper to bumper deal and never showed you the exclusions page, that feels like they set you up on purpose. Did you ever get a copy of the plan in the mail, or is the only version the one buried in your glove box? Call the dealer and ask them to pull the sales records from that day. If they can't show proof they walked you through the compressor exclusion, you might have a shot at fighting it. Worth a call before you eat the 1,400.
