Skipped the dealer inspection on my 2018 F-150 and the warranty claim still went through, so why does everyone push it?
Last month my truck started making a ticking noise near the front wheel, and I was about 20 miles outside of Bakersfield when it got loud enough to worry me. I called the warranty company and they said to get it checked, so I took it to a local shop I trust instead of the dealer. The shop found a bad wheel bearing and quoted me $280, but I'd heard on here that skipping the dealer inspection could void the claim. I went ahead anyway and sent the paperwork in, and two days later the warranty paid the full $280 minus my $100 deductible. Now I'm wondering if all the dealer inspection advice is just scare talk from people who never actually tried it. Has anyone else had a claim go through without the dealer step, or did I just get lucky?
