The trick that worked for me was writing down what I actually saw, heard, or smelled instead of what I thought it was. Like "right engine oil pressure gauge drops to zero in climb and comes back at level off" instead of "oil press gauge issue." Also put when it happens, how often, and what you did about it. Maintenance can't do anything with "engine runs rough sometimes" but they can chase "number two engine vibes high between 60 and 75 percent N1, worse in turns." What did you change in your write-ups?
