Can we talk about that nightmare with the Garmin G1000 update
Last Tuesday I spent 6 hours on a single Cessna 172 because the database upload kept failing halfway through. Turned out the SD card was formatted wrong, but the manual didn't mention that anywhere obvious. Anyone else run into this or find a workaround that doesn't waste half a shift?

Had the same thing happen to me last month. Format the SD card in FAT32 on your computer first, not in the G1000. Saves all that headache.

Terry's fix sounds good on paper but I've seen FAT32 format fail on G1000 units that are picky about how the card's partition table is set up. Sometimes the computer adds hidden system files that mess with the upload. What worked for me was trying exFAT instead on a fresh card, skipping the computer format entirely and letting the G1000 do its own thing even if it takes longer. Might eat up more of your shift on the first try but at least you won't have to redo it three times like I did with FAT32.
