Old lead tech swore by heat shrink over tape, glad I listened near DFW
Back at a regional line in Dallas, my lead, Mike, kept saying never use electrical tape on cannon plugs, always use heat shrink rated for the wire gauge. I brushed it off until a 737 squawk showed chafed pins from tape that slid off after a hot summer. Replaced 14 wires with the heat shrink method and the MEL cleared first try. Anyone else had tape fail on them in high-vibration spots or is it just our old birds?

Heat shrink still chafes if you don't add a tie, just saying.
