The canon plug torque spec in the manual is wrong and I can prove it
I keep seeing techs snap cannon plug shells because they follow the book number. The spec says 25 inch pounds on a size 12 shell. That is way too much for the aluminum threads. I tested it on 8 scrap connectors in the shop at DFW last week. Every single one started stripping at 18. Go to 12 to 14 inch pounds and you get a good seal without wrecking the shell. I brought it up to our lead and he said he has been doing it that way for 20 years but never told anyone. What torque values are you all actually using out there?
