My 2B clients are actually the ones who changed my mind on this, cutting wet was rounding off the little zigzags that make their waves look full. With fine wavy hair I just go slower and take smaller sections dry, because rushing it is what makes it fall flat, not the dry cut itself.

The stylists are the ones who have to deal with the aftermath, and it sounds like a lot of them are just too polite or too worried about losing the booking to push back. Customers getting led into services that do not suit them is a pattern way bigger than just hair.
