PSA: I thought my wife was nuts for wanting a 'mudroom' in our 900 square foot house

totally agree with the payoff thing, but @betty_fisher5 you're missing the point. it's not about the bench or the hooks. it's about the mudroom not existing. less square footage to maintain means less time with a mop in your hand. i have a tiny shoe tray and a single hook. floor gets wet sometimes but it's like three square feet. takes thirty seconds to wipe. your hallway space is a trade off but honestly i'd rather lose two feet of hallway than spend an extra hour every week cleaning a whole room. you don't need a ton of kids for it to matter. it's just less surfaces to collect dust and dog hair. simpler is better.

Unpopular opinion: I thought alt text for decorative images was a waste of time

Oh man, I've totally been there! What helped me was actually stepping away for a bit and then coming back to look at it with fresh eyes. That little break made it way easier for me to figure out if the image really mattered or if I was just overthinking it.

My trowel handle snapped clean off on a job in Austin yesterday

Wonder if a broken tool is really that big of a deal, does it even matter?

Just realized everyone at my shop thinks you need to baby that old Mazak VTC-41, but I ran it flat out for a week on a rush order of 500 aluminum brackets and it never missed a beat.

Run the machine hard enough to prove what it can do. Watch the temp gauges and listen for chatter, that'll tell you more than any rumor. If it holds tolerance and doesn't smoke, it earned the work.

That moment a barista in Portland made me rethink my coffee shop logo

Wait, you took advice from a barista?
