Went back to dry cutting curly hair after 6 months of always cutting it wet, picking up way more weight than I meant to
For the last 6 months at my chair in Reno I was doing every curly cut on soaking wet hair because it felt faster and the lines looked cleaner to me in the moment. Last week I switched back to dry cutting for a client with 3B curls and the difference hit me right away, I could see exactly where the spring was uneven before I took anything off. Wet, her hair hung almost 4 inches longer than it dried, so I kept cutting into shape that was never really there. Now I rough out the shape dry, wash, then just clean up the ends. Any of you doing dry cuts on fine wavy hair or does it just fall apart on you?
My 2B clients are actually the ones who changed my mind on this, cutting wet was rounding off the little zigzags that make their waves look full. With fine wavy hair I just go slower and take smaller sections dry, because rushing it is what makes it fall flat, not the dry cut itself.
