Warning: A pilot friend just told me he never trusts the 'tested ok' tag on a pulled LRU
He said a unit can pass a bench test but still have an intermittent fault that only shows up under real flight loads. That hit different because I've definitely slapped that tag on a box and moved on. How do you guys handle verifying used parts from the shelf?

My old boss caught me doing that once. He made me run the same landing light switch through three full cycles on the bench while he watched, just to prove a point. I learned my lesson the hard way. Now I treat every "tested ok" tag like a suggestion, not a fact. What's the most annoying ops check you've had to run to be sure?

Ever run it through a full ops check on the plane before you sign it off?

Wait, you're telling me there are people who don't do that? The ops check is the whole point of signing it off. You just... trust the bench test? That's a wild way to live. I'd be sweating bullets until I saw it work on the actual aircraft.
