Almost took a wrong turn onto the Eagle Rock loop last month because my paper map was 4 years old
The trail got rerouted around a washed out bridge in 2022 and my map still showed the old crossing, so I hiked 2 miles down a spur that dead ended at a creek. If you're doing the Ouachita route this season, check the Forest Service site for closures before you print anything. Anyone else run into outdated maps on that loop?
Wait, are you really blaming the map when trail crews change routes every year no matter what? I just print the latest one off the Forest Service site right before I go and it's never failed me yet.
