Bought a $200 used table saw off Craigslist and it almost cost me a finger
Found a Craftsman table saw on Craigslist for $200 about 6 months ago and thought I got a steal. The guy demoed it in his driveway in Fresno and it fired right up, no weird noises, blade looked fine. Got it home and ran a couple test cuts on scrap pine, everything seemed good. Then I was ripping a 2x4 last weekend and the blade grabbed the wood and kicked it back so hard it dented my garage door. Turns out the riving knife was missing and I never noticed, that thing is basically the anti-kickback safety piece. Now I'm shopping for a new saw with all the guards intact because saving $300 used isn't worth a trip to the ER. Anyone got a recommendation for a decent contractor saw under $600?
