Hot take: your garage lighting is probably terrible and you don't even know it
I was in my garage trying to work on a rusty lawnmower blade last Saturday and couldn't see the rust spots at all with just a single overhead bulb. Swapped it out for a 5000K LED shop light from Harbor Freight for $30 and it's like a whole different space. The shadows disappeared and I actually saw the pitting for the first time. Anybody else stuck using horrible yellow bulbs for way too long before finally fixing it?

My buddy Matt had the exact same issue with his garage. He thought his eyes were going bad until he came over to my place and saw how bright my lights were. Turns out he had been using a 60 watt bulb that was probably older than his truck. He swapped it out for a cheap LED strip light and called me the next day saying he could finally see the oil stains on his concrete floor.

Isn't it funny how we just accept things like dim garages or crummy kitchen knives until we see someone else's setup that actually works? I feel like there's this whole category of stuff people put up with for years just because they've never seen a better version. Like my neighbor had a shower head that barely dribbled out water for a decade until he went to a hotel and realized what actual water pressure felt like. It's wild how a small swap can totally change your daily life without you even realizing how bad it was before.
