That foreman on the Hudson job told me my trowel technique was wasting mortar

Man, I gotta say, the air pocket thing makes so much sense now that you mention it. I switched from a 45 degree angle to more of a 30 degree angle after messing with it on a job last month, and I noticed way less mortar sliding off the brick face. It also seemed to pack in tighter on the joints, so I bet that's what cut down on the hollow spots I was wasting mud on. Did you find a specific angle that worked best for you, or was it more about the wrist twist on the handle?

Got a critique on my storyboard work that totally changed my approach

Right, because who needs clarity when you can just cram every single thought into a panel like it's a Black Friday sale. Glad the director appreciated your newly found empty space though. Did you have to fight the urge to fill it back in immediately?

My trip to IKEA last Sunday showed me I've been organizing my desktop wrong

Wait, you thought he was talking about a computer desktop this whole time? That's honestly hilarious, I can totally see how you'd get confused though. But no, he clearly spelled out that he's been collecting knobs for months and has them spread across his actual desk. I mean, who has that many computer wallpapers anyway? The IKEA knob thing is real though, my buddy has a whole drawer full of random pulls he got from the as-is section. It's a weird hobby but hey, whatever makes you happy, right?

Had a chat with a pilot about torque wrenches that made me laugh

...and @jesse_harris is right, that pilot really did turn it into a whole thing you can't unsee. I was standing in the shop after reading this, staring at my torque wrench like it was some kind of alien tool. The guy I work with, Mike, has been clicking his twice for 23 years and when I asked him why, he just shrugged and said "that's what the old timers showed me." Its crazy how we just pass stuff down without ever stopping to question if theres a real reason behind it. Makes me wonder what else I do on autopilot that nobody ever asked about.

Just blew through my 50th stump of the season and my back is screaming

Are we sure it's always that deep though? Sometimes a cup of coffee is just a cup of coffee.
