Just realized my 3 year old screed is why I've been fighting 1/4 inch dips all spring
So last month I'm on a 40 by 60 shop slab over in Nampa and the laser keeps telling me I'm low in the same middle section every pass. I blamed the base, blamed the mix, blamed the pump guy, even blamed the wind. Then Tuesday my helper goes hey, flip that screed over and look at the edge. There's a low spot worn into the blade right about where I stand, maybe 3/16 deep, and it's been quietly digging a trench in every pour I've done since about March. Three years of trusting that tool and it's been robbing me the whole time. I felt stupid, then I felt mad, because that's 3 or 4 jobs where the owner walked out, dropped a level on the floor, and gave me a look I didn't deserve. New blade cost me $85 and the next slab came out dead flat on the first pass. Has anybody else pulled a tool out of the truck and found it was the problem the whole time, and how long did it take you to catch it?
