I finally stopped pressure washing my concrete driveway twice a year after a neighbor in Phoenix let me see his 12 year results with just a leaf blower and mild soap
After three summers of spending $45 on rentals and scrubbing stains that came back within a month anyway, my neighbor Mike showed me his driveway last Saturday that he only hits with a leaf blower and a bucket of dish soap water once in the spring and it still looks better than mine did after a full wash, has anyone else ditched the pressure washer for this lazier approach?

Actually that lazy approach works fine until a monsoon rolls through and you find out dish soap leaves a residue that turns your driveway into a slip and slide for weeks. I tried Mike's method for one season and ended up with a patchy mess where the soap dried unevenly and trapped dirt in weird streaks. Pressure washing twice a year at least gives you a clean slate instead of just blowing dust around.

Didn't someone post on here a while back about how dish soap can actually eat away at the sealant on some driveways over time? That slip and slide thing sounds sketchy, and I'd rather just rent a pressure washer for a day than deal with that mess. Feels like you're better off sticking with the basic clean and avoiding all the weird chemical reactions lol.
