PSA: pine bark nuggets beat cypress mulch in my beds, and it was not close
Two springs back I put cypress mulch on the front beds and it was mostly dust by July, so I tried pine bark nuggets last year on the same beds. Six months later the nuggets were still there, just a bit faded, and I only needed 2 bags to top up instead of 6. The water thing surprised me too, the sprinkler ran about 10 minutes less per zone because the bigger chunks don't mat down. One heads up, the big pieces float in a hard rain, so keep them off the low spot by the downspout in my case. I'm in Raleigh and the clay soil here needs all the help it can get. Has anyone tried the mini nuggets for a veggie bed? Wondering if they're too chunky around seedlings.
