That $40 moisture meter I laughed at saved my garage slab

I poured a small 10x12 pad in my backyard last spring and my buddy swore by this cheap pin meter he got off Amazon, so I tested it against a plastic sheet tarp trick and it caught a wet spot 3 days before I was gonna seal. Has anyone else found those little pin probes actually reliable, or did I just get lucky on one job?
