We painted our front door a bright lime green last spring and my husband thought I lost my mind. Our house is a pale gray with white trim and it used to just blend in with every other house on the street. Now people actually slow down when they walk their dogs to look at it because the green is so unexpected but somehow works with the gray. It made me realize boring houses are just houses that need a color that actually talks back to the rest of the paint scheme. Did you go with a glossy finish or something more flat for that safety orange?

So after 2 years did you guys have to maintain the rain garden much or did it pretty much take care of itself? I've seen some people put them in around here but a couple let them turn into weed patches and now they're just muddy messes. Was curious how much work Jean actually put into keeping those native plants from going wild.

That "gray mush" thing you mentioned is so real. I did a garage sale sign once with red and green marker and my friend was like "is that just a blob sale?" Now I just use black and yellow like a warning sign and it works for everything.

Disagree completely. That DIY logo is exactly what makes a small business feel real and human. Corporate polish is everywhere and honestly kind of boring. The "bad" logo gives the shop personality and makes it memorable - I guarantee more people remember that soup bowl cup than some generic minimalist thing. If a customer actually asked if the vintage shop sold cursed furniture, that's free marketing gold right there. Leave the amateur art alone, it's part of the charm.

Guess I'll just keep my tape measure in the truck and pretend I didn't see it.
