Tried using a chainsaw sharpener from Harbor Freight on my Stihl - big mistake
I picked up that $10 chainsaw sharpener kit on a whim after my 18 inch bar kept bogging down on oak rounds. Ran it through the guide once and my chain started cutting so crooked it nearly kicked back on me. Has anyone else had luck with those cheap sharpeners or do you just pay the $15 at a shop?

Yeah @wendy_clark pretty much nailed it there. Getting the angle and depth right on those cheap guides is really tricky since they don't have good stops, and one bad pass can mess up the whole chain pattern. I ended up just taking mine to the shop and getting the file kit from them instead, way less headache.
