I put acoustic foam on all 4 walls of my 10x12 shed and it made my recordings worse
Everyone told me to cover every wall in foam, so I spent $180 on 24 panels and stuck them up over a weekend in my 10x12 shed in Boise. The result was a dead, boxy sound that made my acoustic guitar tracks feel like they were recorded in a closet, which I guess they kind of were. I took 14 of the panels back down and hung two moving blankets on the back wall instead, and the room finally breathes again. Turns out my problem was never echo, it was the thin drywall reflecting low end, and foam does almost nothing for that. I still have 10 panels sitting in my garage because I feel weird about returning used stuff. What did you all use to fix low end in a small space, bass traps or just more stuff in the room.
