Overheard a lead tech say we should skip the bonding jumpers on composite panels

Tyler you're saying the composite material doesn't conduct well so why bother with the jumpers at all? That logic sounds dangerous to me. The whole point of those bonding jumpers is to connect the panels together so lightning current can travel to ground without arcing across gaps. If you skip them, you're basically creating a series of isolated metal pieces that could build up a charge differential and flash over to something. What happens when one of those "interior decoration" panels gets hit by a side flash from the main lightning rod system instead of a direct bolt?

Shoutout to the old timer at Ace Hardware who saved my plumbing job

Heard some old timer say "experience is just a word for having tried all the wrong ways first" and that sounds about right. That guy probably saved you from a flooded kitchen floor haha.

Vent: My Figma autolayout broke after 3 months and I lost a whole project

Spent literally 6 hours rebuilding that page from scratch" - that's rough, man. I used to think autolayout was foolproof. Told myself it was the best thing since sliced bread. Then one of my client projects got wrecked by a nested gap collapse. Same deal as yours. Had to redo four pages over a weekend. Changed my mind real quick. Now I check my autolayout settings every single time I open a file.

Debate: Should we still do daily standups on job sites or just use group chat?

read a study last year from some university that looked at construction teams doing standups vs digital updates. they found the face to face ones cut down on rework by like 15% because people would catch little things when they were standing there talking. but the crew hated em so much they had lower morale. its a trade off for sure. on that job in Austin maybe a quick 5 minute huddle woulda worked better than freezing for 20.

Saw a cool rainwater setup at a community garden in Denver

Diana I wish I had that problem but my rain barrels just sit there collecting leaves and not much else, Beth could probably fill hers twice over.
