Soundproofing panels fell off mid-recording, should I go back to blankets?

Last Saturday I was tracking a podcast episode in my 8x10 shed studio when two of the 2x4 foam panels I'd glued up with spray adhesive just dropped off the wall, right during a take (of course). I've got about $60 into these panels and now I'm split between re-gluing them with actual construction adhesive or just ripping them all down and hanging moving blankets like a buddy in Austin swears by. The blankets are cheaper and he says the low end sounds tighter, but I like the look of the foam for when I film quick video clips. Has anyone else had adhesive fail on them after a few months, and which route did you stick with long term?
