The day my studio finally felt like a real room

After months of just framing and insulation, I put up the first sheet of drywall on the back wall of my 10x12 build last Tuesday. It was just one panel, but seeing that smooth, white surface instead of pink fluff totally changed the feel of the space (I actually sat on my cooler for ten minutes just looking at it). My partner came out after work and said, 'Oh, it has a face now,' which was the perfect way to put it. Has anyone else had a single step make the whole project suddenly feel real?

Know exactly what you mean. That first piece of drywall is the turning point where it stops being a construction site and starts being a room. For me, it was painting the primer coat in my garage workshop. Suddenly all the patchwork mud and tape disappeared under one uniform color, and the whole space just clicked into place. It went from looking like a messy project to a real, usable area. That visual shift makes all the planning and rough work feel worth it.

That drywall just hides the real work.

Ever notice how primer smells like progress?
