Vent: Damp floor in my backyard studio had me stumped for weeks
I kept finding water near the walls after it rained. The dirt around the base was flat, so rain just sat there. I dug a shallow ditch and put gravel in it to guide water away. Who knew a simple slope could make such a big difference?

But are you sure gravel alone will fix it for good? That standing water could be seeping under the foundation already. I've seen places where a simple ditch just moves the problem a few feet over. What about mold in the walls or the floor rotting out from underneath? Might need a real drain pipe buried deeper.

Feel your frustration with that damp floor problem. Simple drainage fixes often work wonders. Happy to hear your gravel ditch did the trick.

Nice! That gravel ditch is a solid move. I had the exact same thing with my shed, water just pooled against the slab. I dug a narrow trench about a foot out, filled it with crushed stone, and sloped it away. It hasn't been wet since. Sometimes the simple fix is the right one.
