I tested two ways to name files for clients and one cut my revision emails way down
I used to name client files stuff like final_v2_REAL_final and honestly it was chaos. Last month I switched to a simple system: date first, then client name, then what stage it's at, like 0603_Smith_layout. My revision emails dropped from around 15 a project down to maybe 4 because nobody had to ask which file was the newest one. I did this after losing track of two versions of a menu design for a cafe here in Boise and sending the wrong one out. The funny part is the old way felt faster in the moment but cost me hours later. Has anyone else found a naming trick that actually stuck, or do you still have a folder full of files with the word final in them?
