I used to redo the same homepage hero 6 times a week, now I do one ugly sketch first
For about 2 years I would open Figma, drag a big rectangle for the hero, and just nudge stuff around until it looked fine. Last month I counted my old files and found 6 versions of the same landing page hero, all saved within 4 days, all basically the same box with the text moved 8px left or right. Now I grab a napkin and a pen and sketch the layout before I touch the laptop. Sounds dumb but it takes 3 minutes and I stop rebuilding the same thing over and over. My last sketch had the headline, a button, and a photo block roughed out in two lines and I built it in one pass. Has anyone else gone from pushing pixels to paper first, or am I just late to this?
