TIL $40 on a good adjustable chair mat was worth every penny

I used to think any cheap office chair mat would do, but after my cheap one cracked and curled up within 3 months (making it harder to roll around), I finally bought a proper one from a drafting supply store. Has anyone else found that spending a bit more on floor protection actually saves your back and your sanity?

My 90s basement bathroom tile got a radical update with just paint and sealer

I tiled my basement shower back in 1998 with those tiny white square tiles that always looked dirty. Over the last 2 years the grout turned yellow no matter how much I scrubbed it. Finally decided to try a two-part epoxy paint made for tile and a matte sealer over the whole thing. Took about 6 hours and cost me $80 in supplies and it looks like a brand new bathroom now. Has anyone else tried painting old tile in their Edmonton home and had it hold up through the winter?

I was getting a haircut last month and asked him about the old cigar box on his shelf. He said it was his 'car fund' and that he puts $80 cash in it from every haircut. He showed me how he has separate envelopes for rent, food, and fun money too. It made me think about how I just let my card get swiped for everything.
