Picked rounded corners over sharp ones for our bakery app buttons and our older customers finally stopped calling us
I was rebuilding the checkout flow for a small bakery app in Dayton last spring and got stuck between 2px sharp buttons and 8px rounded ones. I went with rounded because the bakery owner said her regulars are mostly folks over 60, and sharp corners made the buttons blend into the card edges. After the switch, support calls about "where do I pay" dropped from about 12 a week to 3. Not a huge number, but the owner texted me a photo of her mom checking out on the first try, which felt pretty good. Curious if anyone else has picked a corner radius or button style based on who was actually tapping it, not just what looked nice in Figma.
Love that the owner sent you a photo of her mom. We did the same thing with our clinic sign in screen, rounded corners and bigger buttons, and the older folks stopped tapping the wrong spot. Turns out the people actually using the thing know better than whatever looks cool on a design blog.
