Question about those ugly orange extension cords: I was wrong to hate the color
For 15 years I've fought with people about extension cords in the shop, mostly the bright orange ones all tangled in a nest by my bench in the garage. I always thought they were the most useless ugly design out there, and I gave away a whole 100 ft one last summer because the color bugged me so much. Then in February I was working under the sink in a dark crawl space on a Saturday and ran an old black cord into the space, and I spent 10 minutes feeling around with my phone light trying to find where it went. My helper came over with one of those neon cords and it lit up the whole corner. It was right there the whole time. I felt pretty dumb. Turns out the loud color is the point, not a mistake. Now I keep one in the truck on purpose and it saves me a minute or two on every job. Did anyone else ever flip on a design choice like that after eating crow over it?
