My kid's science fair board got tanked by a teacher who let a font do all the talking
So my 10 year old spent three weekends building a board about how crystals form in sugar water, and she typed everything in what she picked off the school laptop. The font was that swirly cursive one that comes free with the word processor, the one with the little hearts on the capital letters. Her teacher wrote a note on the rubric saying the board was hard to read from two feet away, and she lost 8 points out of 40 on presentation. I get that she is a kid and all, but a science fair judge is squinting at 14 boards in a row in a gym in Peoria, so pick something plain. We redid the whole thing that night in a boring clean font and her friend's mom said it looked like a different project. Does anyone else think schools should just ban the fancy ones on assignment handouts? Because that cursive is a menace.
