Shoutout to the old guy who called me out on my torque wrench habits
I was working a line in Atlanta about 8 months ago, doing a wheel change on a 737. An older mechanic I didn't know well watched me for a minute and said, 'You're not letting that wrench settle after the click, are you?' I argued that the click was the spec. He showed me how, if you don't pause, you can actually be under-torque by a noticeable margin on a calibrated gauge. I started adding that half-second pause on every critical fastener. Has anyone else had a simple technique critique that actually stuck?
