Vent: a hostel desk clerk in Lisbon told me I was paying too much for airport rides
I was booking a 22 euro cab from the Lisbon airport into town for the third time on one trip, and the guy at the front desk just looked at me and said "why are you doing that, the metro is 1.80." I felt a little dumb, but he walked me through the red line and where to get the Viva Viagem card, and I tried it the next morning. Took 25 minutes instead of 15, but I saved about 20 euros each way, which covered two real dinners. Now I check the city transit site before I book any airport ride, and honestly it has worked out almost everywhere. Curious if anyone has a city where the cheap option is actually a trap, because I want to know before I get burned.
