Shoutout to the coffee shop in Phoenix that put my resume in a curly script font, I did not get the job
I dropped off a paper copy of my resume at this little cafe near Camelback Road two weeks ago because the owner said he was hiring a morning manager. He asked if I could leave something with my info, so I handed him my resume and he said he would type up a quick flyer version to pin by the register. I came back three days later and my name and number were printed in this swirling fancy script that looked like a wedding invite, and nobody could read my phone number at all. The owner laughed and said he picked it because it looked classy, and I just stood there watching two customers squint at it like it was in another language. He ended up losing my paper copy, so that flyer was the only way to reach me, and I heard nothing for a week. I get wanting something pretty, but a hiring flyer needs to look like a phone number you can actually dial, right? Has anyone else had a font choice quietly kill their chances at something?
