Am I the only one who spent 40 minutes fighting an unsubscribe link that kept opening a newsletter signup instead?
Last Tuesday I tried to cancel a store rewards email from a place I bought shoes at in Cleveland about 6 months ago, and I kid you not, it took me 40 minutes to get off that list. I hit the little unsubscribe text at the bottom of the mail and it didn't uncheck anything, it just loaded a page asking me to confirm my email and re-sign up, so I clicked the tiny gray X and it did the same thing again. Then I tried the "manage preferences" button and the whole page went blank except for a cookie banner that covered the save key, so I had to shrink my browser to 80 percent just to see it. The final trick was unchecking a box that was already unchecked, and only after I did that twice did the site finally say my email was removed. I felt like I was playing a prank on myself the entire time. Has anyone else run into a cancel button that quietly signs you up again, and how did you finally get it to work?
