Hot take: I paid $89 for a "pro" budgeting app that hid the cancel button behind 6 screens
Last month I signed up for a free trial of a budgeting app on my phone, and when the trial ended it charged me $89 for the year without any real warning. I went to cancel and the button was buried under Settings, then Profile, then a help article, then a chat bot, then a "talk to us" form, then a final screen that asked if I was "really sure." It took me 22 minutes to find it and I almost gave up twice. This is a dark pattern, plain and simple, and it should be illegal. What's the worst cancel flow you've ever been stuck in?
