My $320 CRM software trial burned me for 60 days straight

I signed up for that sales tracking tool back in March because the landing page showed a simple drag and drop pipeline. The onboarding was fine for the first afternoon, but then every update required me to rebuild my contact lists from scratch. I paid $320 for two months and spent more time clicking through 11 screens just to log one phone call than I did actually calling people. Has anyone else found a lightweight alternative that doesn't hide basic tasks behind five dropdown menus?

Read somewhere that most of these sales tools bank on you getting too frustrated to cancel, so they make the simple stuff stupidly hard on purpose. Sounds exactly like what you hit. It also mentioned that a plain spreadsheet plus a shared calendar does 80% of what those fancy CRMs claim to do, just without the pretty charts. Not saying ditch software entirely, but you might be better off with a notes app and a timer to keep you honest. Had a buddy swear by a physical notebook for a whole quarter, just wrote every call and follow-up on paper. Your mileage may vary, but I'd take the refund fight over another month of that 11-screen nonsense.
