Rant: the parking kiosk at the Riverside garage made me scan a QR code just to pay $4
Last Saturday I parked at the Riverside garage downtown and the old coin meter had been swapped for a touchscreen kiosk. There were no buttons, just a tiny QR code and a sign saying to download the app, so I stood there for 10 minutes with my phone in the cold waiting on a 3G signal. An older guy behind me gave up and just drove out without paying, and honestly I almost did the same. Why do cities rip out a working coin slot for a system that needs a smartphone, an account, and a download just to park for an hour?
