Can we talk about the $120 I dropped on a bread lame I use maybe twice a month?
I bought one of those fancy hand-forged lames from a guy at a farmers market in Portland about 8 months ago. It cost me $120 and I thought it would up my scoring game. Turns out my $12 plastic one from the restaurant supply store scores just as well, and half the time I just use a razor blade. The handle on the fancy one is actually kinda slippery when my hands are doughy. I'm not saying all expensive tools are a waste, but for me this was a dumb buy. Anyone else got a kitchen tool they regret spending on?
